Microsoft expands Xbox Game Pass to 40 new countries
Microsoft announced this morning that it was bringing its PC Game Pass subscription service in preview to 40 new markets. PC Game Pass, which was previously named Xbox Game Pass for PC, provides access to hundreds of PC games via Microsoft’s Xbox app on Windows 10 and Windows 11, and the $9.99/month service also includes the EA Play catalog at no additional cost.
With this latest expansion, PC Game Pass is coming to several countries in the European continent (Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Luxembourg, Romania, and Ukraine), the middle-east (Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman), North Africa (Algeria, Morroco, Tunisia, Egypt, and Lybia), and South America (Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru, and Uruguay). You can check the full list of 40 new countries in the press release.
“Beginning on February 28, gamers in these new markets can sign up for PC Game Pass Preview program giving them immediate access to a library of hundreds of high-quality PC games on Windows including new Xbox Game Studios releases on day one, iconic Bethesda games, an EA Play membership, and member-only benefits in Riot Games,” the Xbox team explained today. To sign up, Windows users need to download the Xbox Insider Hub app and opt-in for the Preview program. The service is also available for a special discounted price for the first month of subscription.

In the coming months, Microsoft’s PC Game Pass service will be available in a total of 86 countries. The company announced back in January 2022 that Game Pass had surpassed 25 million subscribers, though this number includes Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Microsoft has also started trialing an Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family plan in select markets.
PC Game Pass is great value for PC gamers as it provides access to a vast catalog of first-party and third-party games for a low monthly price. All new Microsoft games also come to the library on day one, and that will be the case this year for the upcoming Minecraft Legends, Forza Motorsport, Starfield, and Redfall.
