Police: Schools locked down amid report of active shooter at Wilson HS
SPRING TWP., Pa. — The report of an active shooter at Wilson High School in Berks County has prompted a lockdown of the school as well as nearby Whitfield Elementary.
The Spring Township police said they and officers from throughout the county were initially dispatched to the high school for the report of an active shooter.
As of 9 a.m., they said their initial sweep off the building revealed no evidence of any shooters or victims. Police have since broken into groups to conduct a more thorough and detailed search of the buildings and the surrounding areas, according to the district.
Students remain in their classrooms with their first-period teachers.
Police are asking that parents not respond to the school at this time. Parents seeking more information should go to the parking lot at Glad Tidings Church at Snyder and Van Reed roads.
