Vanessa Mai cries on "Wolkenfrei" comeback in "The Giovanni Zarrella Show"
Vanessa Mai is very moved after her cloud-free comeback on the "Giovanni Zarella Show".
Last November, Vanessa Mai (30) announced the comeback of her band Wolkenfrei on the "Giovanni Zarrella Show". Now the time had finally come: the solo artist performed a medley of her greatest hits with her ex-band on the “Giovanni Zarrella Show” – and that was more emotional for the 30-year-old than expected.
Vanessa Mai: "I didn't think I would have to cry"
After the performance, Vanessa Mai is so touched that she even had a few tears rolling down her cheeks. "I didn't think I would have to cry," admits Vanessa after the comeback in conversation with host Giovanni Zarrella. "Overwhelming," she summarizes her feelings during the first appearance in eight years. "I can't even put it into words, I didn't think it would be so emotional!" she describes her agitated feelings.
New album for the band's tenth anniversary
Vanessa Mai has been a solo singer for eight years. However, she first became known as the frontwoman of the band Wolkenfrei. The group released their debut single "Jeans, T-Shirt und Freiheit" in 2013, followed in 2014 by their debut album "Endlosliebe". Just one year later, Stefan Kinski and Marc Fischer announced their departure and Mai continued the project on her own. Since 2016, the 30-year-old has only appeared under her stage name.
However, just in time for the tenth anniversary of the Wolkenfrei debut, she returns to her roots and releases a new, final Wolkenfrei album. Deep inside, "Clouds Free always had a place in my heart, I know where I come from," says Vanessa Mai in a statement. "I was never tired of hits. I just had to break new ground with Vanessa Mai to be able to do what made me so happy back then with all my heart."
