 "TATORT" ACTOR ROBERT GALLINOWSKI SURPRISELY DIED

The acting community and many "Tatort" fans mourn Robert Gallinowski. TV viewers often saw Gallinowski in the role of tough guy or shady guy. Now he died much too soon. He was only 53 years old.

The actor Robert Gallinowski, known from many television thrillers, is dead. He died unexpectedly at the age of 53, his agent said. The "Süddeutsche Zeitung" had previously reported on Gallinowski's death. The cause of death is currently unknown.

KNOWN FROM "TATORT" AND "POLIZEIRUF 110"

The actor, born in Aachen in 1969, has become known to a wider audience through his appearances in "Tatort", "Polizeiruf 110", "Kommissar Stolberg" and "Der Alte". Born in Aachen, he has had more than 70 roles in film and television since the mid-1990s. Gallinowski was married to fellow actress Dagmar Manzel until 2016.

Gallinowski often played the role of the tough guy or the shady guy: sometimes as a far-right taxi driver, sometimes as the operator of a red-light club. In the historical drama "Naked among wolves" (2015) Gallinowski embodied the SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Robert Kluttig.
