Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Announces Release Date for Upcoming Memoir

 The esteemed associate justice of the Supreme Court had previously unveiled her book titled 'Lovely One' earlier this year.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has provided further insights into her highly anticipated memoir.

In a statement from Random House, an imprint of the Random House Publishing Group, it was revealed that Jackson is set to release her debut memoir, Lovely One, in September 2024. The Associated Press had initially reported on Jackson's book in January.

Reflecting on her journey, Jackson expressed, "Mine has been an unlikely journey. But the path was paved by courageous women and men in whose footsteps I placed my own, road warriors like my own parents, and also luminaries in the law, whose brilliance and fortitude lit my way. This memoir combines the public account of my life with lesser-known aspects."

Following the retirement of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer in 2022, Jackson made history as the first Black woman to hold a justice position on the United States Supreme Court. Her appointment by President Biden took place in June 2022.

During the announcement, Biden emphasized, "The person I will nominate will be someone with extraordinary qualifications, character, experience, and integrity, and that person will be the first Black woman ever nominated to the Supreme Court. It's long overdue in my view. I made that commitment during my campaign for president, and I will keep that commitment."

Hailing from Miami, Florida, Jackson is an alumna of Harvard College and Harvard Law School. She has previously served on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, as well as in roles as a federal public defender and federal law clerk. Notably, she clerked for Justice Breyer from 1999 to 2000.

Lovely One will provide readers with insights into Jackson's personal life alongside her Supreme Court Justice confirmation. This will include her family's encounters with segregation, her professional ascent through the legal field, and how she navigates the responsibilities of motherhood and marriage alongside a demanding career.

The memoir is poised to be an "inspiring narrative about breaking barriers that have historically been insurmountable," as stated by the publisher.
