The NFL awarded the New Orleans Saints three compensatory draft picks for the 2024 draft, all of which come at the end of the fifth round. 

The Saints now own picks Nos. 167, 169 and 174 in the draft, bringing their total number of picks to nine. 

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams each earned five compensatory picks. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the only other NFC South team to pick up a compensatory selection, adding a sixth-round pick. 

 NFL teams earn compensatory picks, which fall between Rounds 3 and 7, based on net free agent losses. Though the league protects its formula for determining the picks, they are determined by salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula accounts for players lost or signed before May 1. 
 
Last year, the Saints lost free agents Marcus Davenport, Kaden Elliss, Andy Dalton, David Onyemata and Shy Tuttle. They signed Jamaal Williams, Nathan Shepherd and Khalen Saunders.
